This short-lived classic TV series was a one of a kind satire of soap operas and society in general, a major cultural phenomenon at the time that, somehow, slipped into near total obscurity in the years since. Although the series was short lived (1976-77), it aired every weeknight, so there are a staggering 325 half hour episodes. Thanks to the good folks at Shout! Factory, a complete boxed set is now available for those who, like me, have waited to see this series for 20+ years. This blog features (or will soon):
- A comprehensive episode guide, with a short, spoiler-free synopsis and a separate, detailed review of every show. I plan on adding a new episode writeup every weekday, because (a) I'm obsessive, (b) I've fallen in love with this show, and (c) frankly, I have nothing better to do.
- Information on all major cast members, writers and directors, including a listing of which episodes they worked on. These pages will be fleshed out in parallel with the episode guide.
- Links to external articles on MH2 and reviews of the DVD releases, with short summaries and pull quotes
- The MH2 Drinking Game, currently a work in progress, so please add your suggestions in the comments!
- The MH2 Trivia Quiz, comprised mostly of questions submitted by SkipEastport
. . . and more to come! I hope to see you in the comments sections as we begin what will be a long, long journey through Fernwood to rediscover a true icon of television history: Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.
